Today is Day One of trick or treating. We are headed over to Three Springs for the fall festival. Should be a good time!

Real Life

Does your laundry room ever look like this? I wish I could say this is a result of me being sick for several days. Sadly, this is not very unusual. I hate laundry! The part I hate most is putting the laundry away. I have a pile in my room of clean clothes just waiting to be hung up, folded or matched. This morning there are no kids home. Dylan is at a friends house and Holli is at school. Instead of reading or napping I will get this laundry washed and put away. There, I said it. Drew, when you come home tonight there will be no piles of laundry in this house. Now I have to do it!

Happy Friday!

Morning, noon and night

This is what we do...

Monday evening Drew came home with Rock Band and we love it. The kids wake up early and play before school. Dylan plays Eye of the Tiger ALL DAY LONG! We needed a new activity now that it's getting cold outside and this is perfect. We'll be experts by next spring.

In other news... I am healthy. Antibiotics are wonderful. Alexander Fleming is my new hero.

Why me?

I've been feeling pretty crummy the past few days and was beginning to think I was a wimp for laying around so much. I made an appointment with my Dr. I left a little early for the appointment so Dylan could play at a park for a few minutes. We were at the park about 10 minutes, decided it was time to leave, headed for the car and the car key was gone! I had half of the key chain in my pocket but the important half, the one with the ignition key, was gone! The plastic key chain had broken in half! There are a lot of leaves on the ground right now which makes it very difficult to find a key that has fallen on the ground. This is when a cell phone would be very useful. I do have a cell phone. The funny thing is cell phones don't work when the battery is dead. The key did eventually surface but it was long past my appointment by now. Yes, I did borrow a phone and call my Doctor but now she can't see me until Wed afternoon. I am feeling to crummy to wait. So, to make a long story even longer, Dylan and I headed over to urgent care. It turns out that I am NOT a wimp. Diagnosis: strep throat, double ear infections and scarlet fever! What? Yes, Scarlet Fever. I thought people didn't get that anymore? Apparently, people do still get Scarlet Fever. It is a rash caused by Strep. I have no idea where I took in all of this bacteria. I now have meds and hope to be feeling better by tomorrow. The good news is that I've lost about 4 pounds from not feeling like eating. Hopefully the rest of the family will stay healthy.

It's Here!

Snow, that is. The peaks had a bit of snow a couple of weeks ago but it melted pretty quickly. I don't think it's going to melt this time. I don't have the camera this weekend so I had to borrow this photo from another blog.

The reason I don't have the camera is because Drew does. Drew left Friday for a rafting trip. I hope he's having a great time. It has been pretty cold and rainy here. He is up North inbetween Grand Junction and Moab. Hopefully the weather is better up there. Rafting in the rain is not the best.

The kids and I have managed to have a good weekend. Yesterday was the Fall Festival at Holli's school. We had so much fun! The kids were so brave in the Haunted House! I was working at the bounce house so the kids got to jump A LOT! In between jumping they would take off to play some of the games. They seemed so grown up going of by themselves. We were exhausted by the time we got home. The kids wanted to watch 'How to Train a Dragon'. We had rented this the night before from Redbox and returned it Saturday morning. I explained to Dylan that I already returned the movie so we couldn't watch it again. He came up with a GREAT idea... we should change our clothes so no one will recognize us and then we can rent the movie again!!! Brilliant! Unfortunately, I didn't really have the energy to go back and get the movie again. We settled for something else and fell asleep early!

This morning Holli made us pancakes. She did the measuring, egg cracking and stirring all by herself. I assisted with the flipping but that was it. They turned out great. Didn't even find any egg shells!

We love Halloween!

It's getting closet to Halloween and we are so excited! The kids love decorating for Halloween. Inside our house we have bats hanging from the light fixtures, ghosts on the windows and skeletons on the walls. We just made our monster for the front porch and I ordered these candies from Oriental Trading. I hope we have a good turnout.

Pinch me, please

A Yurt, girlfriends, fall colors, wine, brownies, dancing, fishing, mountain biking, sitting Shiva, more wine, and a VW bug. All ingredients for a fabulous weekend. I once saw a bumper sticker that said "My life is better than your vacation". A bit cheesy but sometime I do feel like I'm living a vacation.

Saturday afternoon I headed to Mancos State Park with my DW2 girlfriends for a fun night in a Yurt. We went for a nice hike around the lake, enjoyed the beautiful fall colors, drank wine, ate brownies, danced and slept until 8:00am! Sunday morning we had some delicious Pumpkin Cream Cheese Pancakes. Yummy!

Beth, Heather, Erin and me sitting outside our yurt.

Fall colors at Jackson Reservoir.

Later Sunday morning Drew and the kids met me at the lake for some fishing. As usual we didn't catch anything but we still had a nice time. After fishing we headed to Phil's World for some Mountain Biking. The kids are both great on a bike but especially Dylan. I think he has found his 'thing'. Dylan amazes me on the single track trails.

Phil's World.

After an already busy Sunday I went to my first book club meeting to discuss a book that I didn't finish. The book was 'This is where I leave you'. It was a really good book but I procrastinated and waited until the week before to even start reading. After the book club it was dark so I didn't want to walk home. I road home with my friend in her VW bug. Such a fun car!

This morning Dylan and I are eating birthday cake for breakfast and looking at a house that that is in desperate need of a cleaning. Seems like the more fun you have the messier the house.

Happy Monday!

Let it Snow!

The UPS man just delivered our birthday present from JoMama and JoPapa - family snowshoes! I hope we have a good winter so we can go tromping in the snow. I think the kids will love it! Thank you!

Daddy can fix ANYTHING

Conversation with Dylan first thing this morning -

Dylan - Where's Daddy?

Me - Daddy's work called in the middle of the night and said the computers are not working so he had to go in and fix them.

Dylan
- Daddy can fix anything... even eggs!

What an amazing Daddy!!!

More Abq Stuff

We rode the train from Abq to Santa Fe and back. I think it's quite a bit faster to drive but it was still fun riding the train.

Dinner at the best Mexican restaurant, La Fonda!

On Friday we went to the Rio Grande Zoo and Aquarium.

The kids got their Halloween costumes in Abq and wore them all day on Saturday.

Darth Vader still sucks his thumb!

"Bloon Party"

According to Dylan, we just went to the "Bloon Party" in Albuquerque. We drove down and met Grandpa, Grandpa, Uncle Glen and Aunt Linda. Thursday morning we woke up at the crack of dawn to watch the balloons inflate and take off. It was amazing to see so many balloons all together. Thursday was also the day for special shapes. There were lots of shaped balloons like Darth Vader, Sponge Bob, Turkeys, Zebras. Just about any shape you can think of.

Workin' Hard

A day in the life of Winnie. I just want to hug her and squeeze and kiss her!

On another note, our hamster, Dark White, had a terrible accident last week. His cage was left open. We went for a hike and left Chewie in the house. When we came home Dark White was no longer with us. The kids were very upset. We now have a new hamster and everyone is happy. His name is Fluffy.

Great Weekend!

We went to Louisville for the weekend and had a great time with Matt, Joanie and Deron. Saturday morning we went to a Pumpkin Patch. Later that afternoon the kids and I went to Chuck E Cheese while the others went to the CU v Georgia football game. We spent Sunday at the Denver Zoo. We are so lucky to have such great friends! We had a very fun weekend and now we have a couple of days to rest before we head to Albuquerque. We are meeting Grandma and Grandpa in Albuquerque for the balloon fiesta. We are very excited!

Abby, Holli and Deron.

Dylan uses a fork and chopsticks!

I think Dylan got some of the ice cream in his mouth!

CU wins!!!!!!!!

Are Matt's arms as long as the monkey's?

There were 4 Siberian Tiger babies at the Denver Zoo. They were so cute. Only 400 left in the wild.

Dylan is beat!

Morning Laugh

We had a nice laugh this morning. Dylan was pretending to be a dog and eat dog food. Holli was worried that Dylan was really going to eat the dog food. I said "oh, that's okay." Holli cut me off and said she used to eat cat food. When she cut me off I was about to say "that's okay, I used to eat cat food!" When I was little, I used to sneak cat food at my grandparents house. I had no idea that Holli used to eat cat food too! I guess she takes after me :)
