Look alike

My Mom just sent me this photo of my Dad in the 3rd grade. Below is one of Dylan at 4 years old. Dylan looks so much like his Grandpa! When I showed the photo to Dylan he thought it was a photo of himself.

Shoot em up

One of things we did in Kansas City was go to a shooting range. We went to The Bullet Hole and shot Randy's 40 Caliber Smith and Wessen and my Dad's .22 Rifle. Randy's gun looked like this and was pretty intimidating. We all did pretty well. Grandma is a very good shot. I think she's been practicing without telling anyone.

No idea why I look like this.

This may be a new Thanksgiving tradition.

Happy Thanksgiving

We've been travelling for the past 6 days so I haven't had a chance to write. So far we've visited Albuquerque, Oklahoma City, Springfield, St. Louis and now Kansas City. We are in KC for the final couple of days. It's been great to see all of our families and a few friends. I always love coming home to the house I grew up in. It's feels so cozy and relaxing.

We have had a bit of excitement... Holli's lost 2 teeth on this trip! She was worried the Tooth Fairy wouldn't be able to find her since we were not at home. Her solution was to put a sign on the front door so the Tooth Fairy would know she was there. It worked! The Tooth Fairy found her and her teeth!

Here is Holli with no bottom teeth and Tyler with no top teeth.

While we were in St. Louis we visited the City Museum. This place is so strange and so fun. I highly recomment going if you're ever in St. Louis.

Holli climbing up a tunnel. This is on the roof of the Museum so when you reach the top you really feel like you're on top of the world.

The kids were BEAT after spending the day at the Museum.

Holli played hair stylist to Aliyah and Kelsey. She gave them each the same hairstyle.

Online Art

Holli's school has started to display the students artwork online. The art teacher has only uploaded one per student so far. Hopefully they'll be adding more soon. You can go here to view Holli's artwork, leave a comment, become a fan, etc. Enjoy.

Poor Dylan doesn't have an online gallery so here is one of his recent creations.

Target Practice

Winnie makes a good snowball target...

I think Winnie enjoys it as much as the kids.

Igloo?

This morning when we woke up there was a teensy eensy bit of snow on the ground. The kids were very excited about it. As soon as we were dressed Dylan and I went outside to "play in the snow". We got outside and Dylan asked if we could build an Igloo. I'm no expert but I think we need a bit more snow for an Igloo.

November hike

The weather has been gorgeous lately. I can't believe it's November 7th and we're wearing short sleeves shirts and hiking. Today we hiked Falls Creek. This trail can be very hot in the summer because there isn't much shade. This trail is perfect on a 60 degree day. We had a nice time and the kids did great. I'm glad we got this last hike in because we're supposed to get snow on Tuesday!

I just love the big blue sky!

So happy for Drew!

THE BIKE

For about 5 years Drew has been dreaming of getting a Santa Cruz Blur. Now that we're back in Durango Drew does ride several days a week so I think he does deserve the bike he wants. Unfortunately, the bike costs about the same as a small car. There's no way he could pay full price for the bike. This is where the GREAT guys at Pedal the Peaks come in. Pedal the Peaks rents the Blur and they had the exact bike that Drew wanted. For months Drew would go in and ask Cliff (the owner) if he would sell him the rental bike. The bike is a year old so it is discounted. Cliff kept saying he needed to think about it, go over the numbers, etc. Drew never gave up. Over Halloween weekend Durango hosted a National Trials Competition. This was one of the biggest Trials Competition in the country. People came from all over to compete. Cliff, from Pedal the Peaks, was one of the competitors. We went to the competition and got some great photos of Cliff. Drew emailed the photos to Cliff and the next day he called Drew and said he would sell him the bike! They did some customizing for Drew and he picked up the bike yesterday. There are no words to explain how happy Drew is. Now, I just hope his knees don't give him any more trouble so he can keep riding! The Doctor did say that a full suspension bike would be easier on the knees so I think this is just what he needs!

Spooktacular

Wow! What a great Halloween! We had so much fun dressing up, scaring people and eating candy! In our group we had a couple of witches, a flapper, football player, Darth Vader, Princess Leah, Micheal Meyers... and that was just the parents. The kids looked pretty good, too!

Sunday afternoon Drew got together with some other Dads and created a Haunted House in a garage. The Haunted House turned out great. They really did a nice job. There was a tunnel, grave yard, spitting spider and a guy with an ax. Holli really enjoyed being "part of the act". Her job was to have people feel the 'candy' which was actually wet noodles. YUCK!
