Tigger the Horse

The Timmerman Zoo has grown by 4 feet.  We now have a horse named Tigger. Tigger is a 20 year old Quarter Horse that we are leasing.  For now, Tigger is staying at his Ranch so we can learn the ins and outs of caring for a horse.   Of course, Holli already knows everything there is to know but Drew and I have some things to learn.  In September we will move him to a stall in town and we will be fully responsible for him!

Today we went out to the ranch and had a half day lesson.  We had lots of fun and were worn out at the end of the day!

Holli and I riding.  Holli is on Tigger and I am riding one of the other horses there.  His name is Calvin and he was really nice too!

Holli riding barrels in the arena.  She might be in a rodeo some day!

Dylan loved to play with the goats.  Some of the goats had been bottle fed and really like people.  Can you see Dylan in the goat house?

Glitz and Glam

Holli had her Glitz and Glamor birthday party on Sunday. The girls had so much fun.

Holli wanted a #7 cake.  I used the leftover cake to make Cake Balls.  They were really good!

Relaxing with cucumbers on their eyes.  Very refreshing!

Concentrating.

Very serious.

Cake balls!

Fort Dinosaur

We slept in our backyard fort last night.  We watched Dinosaur shows, gazed at the stars and woke up early!  When we were going to sleep Dylan said "I think we might be eaten by a bear tonight"  Thankfully, we all made it through the night.

Getting Greener

We are always looking for ways to be more green.  Yesterday Drew put up this great Clothesline.  I love it!  I put towels out this morning and they were dry in an hour.  That is hardly longer than the dryer.  Poor Holli is already embarrassed.  She's afraid I'll put her underwear out for the world to see.  I'll  be nice.  I don't want my undies hanging up any more than she does.

In other news... our gardening is growing.  It's not great but it is growing.  We have lettuce, spinach and radishes coming up.  We haven't built a fence so every night I fear that a deer will come eat everything.  Fingers crossed that we get to eat some soon!

Vacation Bible School

Holli and Dylan have been at Vacation Bible School this week.  They've been having lots of fun playing games, doing crafts and singing.

Dylan was so excited that he got to carry his group's flag to the assembly today.

They are so cute wearing their smocks, singing their songs and doing all the motions that go with them.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to two amazing fathers... my Dad (aka Grandpa) and Drew.  Holli, Dylan and I are so fortunate to have these men in our lives.

My Dad has a huge heart, is full of wisdom and is always giving.  He tells Holli and Dylan great stories and is always teaching. He is the BEST Grandpa!

I am so happy that Holli and Dylan have such a great FAther, too.  The kids just adore their father.  He is so involved with the kids, is a great role model and is so much fun to be with.  The kids get so excited to see their Dad everyday when he comes home from work.  He works hard to support our family and we feel so fortunate having him as a father.

Happy Fathers Day!  We are going to spend the day riding bikes and swimming.

Happy Birthday, Holli!

Happy 7th Birthday to Holli!  Yes, I am a day late.  We were busy driving yesterday.  Holli has spent the last 10 days in Kansas City with her Grandparents.  I am so happy that she got to spend this time with Grandma and Grandpa.  Sometimes she blows me away with her independence and fearlessness!  We met Grandma and Grandpa in La Junta and drove home last night.  We were so anxious to give her her birthday present so she got her new Mountain bike at 11:30pm!  She loves the bike and has been riding all day today.  She thinks it is pretty cool that she and Dad both have a GT bike. The gears and hand brakes have taken some getting used to but she's doing great!

Here is Holli riding her new bike in the garage last night at 11:30pm!

Happy Birthday, Holli!  Thanks for being so fun to be with, compassionate, funny and fearless.  We love you!

Summertime Treat

Holli has been in KC since last Wed and we are all excited for her to come home this weekend.  Every day Dylan asks 'is this the day that Holli comes home?'  Poor guy.  We are still managing to have a good time.  We are in full time 'summer' mode.   We get to stay up late, play outside all day and get dirty!  I think being dirty is a good sign of having fun!

Today Dylan and I had a picnic lunch with Drew by the river.  Afterwards, we came home and made ice cream in a bag!  You can go here for the recipe.  It was super easy and fun.

Dylan shaking the bag.

 Taste test...

Mmmmm... pretty good. You can add any mix-ins you like.  We opted for Chocolate syrup.  It would have been just fine on it's own.

I think he likes it.

This was so easy and it actually tastes good!  We will definitely be making this again!

River Days Parade

Saturday was the annual Animas River Days Parade.  The water was really high so we saw a lot of swimmers.  Why is it fun to see people flip and swim?  I don't know but everyone loved it!

4 Corners River Sports collage of boats...

Bob and Erin's boat.   They looked great.  Everyone wore a wig for the parade.

 Bill's boat.  He did great!

I was surprised how many Dory's went through.  They're fun to watch. I love how he's standing up to get more power.

A boat getting eatin by Corner Pocket.  This is where most people lost it.

Poor guy... he's the only one left in the boat.  See all the swimmers?

Ninja Wheelie time

If you're riding around Durango and you see a Ninja, don't be alarmed... it's just Dylan.

Best Retreiver in Durango

It's official... Chewy is the best retriever in Durango. This morning Chewy participated in a fetching contest as part of the Animas River Days. There was a water fetching contest and a land contest. There were about 25 dogs participating in each contest. Chewy came in 1st place in the land contest and 3rd place for the water.

Chewy had a time of 14.8 seconds for the water fetch. The winner had 12 seconds even. The water is flowing very high right now so she really had to work hard.

Chewy came in 1st place for the land competition with a time of 7.7 seconds. Not bad for an almost 9 year old. We had originally planned on only doing the water contest but signed up for the land as a last minute decision and I'm glad we did!

Fun in the hot, hot sun

We just returned from Panama City Beach, Fl after spending a week with Grandma and Grandpa and my sister's family. We had a great week of Deep Sea Fishing, crab hunting, swimming and relaxing.

Randy, Holli and Drew on our fishing boat, The Relentless.

Drew reeling in a fish.

Wait... it's a shark! This shark that Drew caught was about 4ft. We let him go.

Watching Dolphin while we fish.

Captain Dylan manning the boat.

Drew and Dylan relaxing on the boat.

Grandpa caught a baby fish.

Our fishing group. We caught 14 fish that we were able to keep.

Yikes...an alligator!

Holli and Ethan goofing off.

Shooting the breeze in Seaside.

Holli and Drew riding the waves.

Grandpa rented this Mustang Convertible for us to drive around. We had lots of fun with the top down.

Holli doing her acrobats.

On the way home we got to see Uncle Deron at Fort Carson.

Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa for a great vacation!
