Daddy Daughter Dance

Last night was the Daddy Daughter Dance at the River Church in Durango. Drew and Holli had so much fun. Holli and I had so much fun getting her all fancy! They had a good dinner at Baquilas (aka Tequilas) and then danced until the last song played. Holli said her favorite part was when they played Eye of the Tiger. They did have a photo booth set up but the photos won't be ready until the end of March.... Really???? Is this 1985? So....stay tuned for the 'professional' photo in several weeks. We forgot to take any with Holli wearing her corsage.

Dylan wanted to wear a tie too. This was the first time the kids had ever seen Drew wear a tie. Holli thought he looked kind of silly at first!

Gifts from Grandma

The kids received a package from Grandma with homemade gifts. They are so excited about everything.

This is a rag quilt she made for Dylan. Dylan's favorite colors are black and red so this is perfect!

Holli modeling one of her skirts. Both skirts are so cute!

Thank you, Grandma!

Dylan says he needs to "practice fishing" and he has to wear his "camels" so no one will see him.

Family Letters

I jut put together these little flags with all of our initials. My plan is to sew it together and hang it above the kitchen sink. I laid them in order of oldest to youngest and then realized what it said. Unfortunately, this is a pretty good description for 3 of us.

Where do you sleep?

Oliver likes boxes...no matter what the size. If there is a box in the house he will find it and claim it as his own.

Dylan has always loved sleeping with Drew and I. For the most part we've been able to break this habit but every-once-in-a-while he'll make his way into our bed. It usually has to do with a dream. He knows that if he has a nightmare he can come into our bed. The funny thing is he doesn't know what a nightmare is! He'll come into our room (sometimes just a few minutes after we've put him to bed) and say he had a dream. We'll ask him 'was it bad or good'. If it was a good dream we try to explain that good dreams are okay and he can go back to his bed. Last night he came in our room in the middle of the night and I didn't have the energy to ask about 'the dream'. He said he had a dream and climbed in bed. We'll miss these times some day soon.

Fat of the land

This summer we're hoping to live off the fat of the land. Maybe we'll get a few rabbits the kids can tend to :) Seriously, I have always wanted to have a successful garden. In the past I've managed to harvest a few things here and there but never much. I'm going to really work at it this year! No matter what happens, this is a good experience for the kiddos.

Dylan and I got started today. We made a little indoor growing container and planted several vegetables. I know it's still very early but we are supposed to have an early spring :) If things don't work out we still have plenty more seeds.

Watering...

Lots of Southern exposure.

Super day

Today was beautiful... it felt like April 13, not February 13. We took full advantage of the weather and spent the day outside on the river trail. I think we rode about 11 miles and the kids did fantastic! We love to ride bikes together as a family. Here are a few pictures from our ride.

The kids just got new bike locks and they were so excited to use them. Every time we stopped they would lock their bikes.

Our first stop was the fish hatchery. The kids always enjoy feeding and watching the fish.

I love watching Dylan ride. He usually gets many compliments along the trail.

Holli found a great tree to climb at Gazebo Park.

Lunch at Serious Texas BBQ!

Holli doesn't have school tomorrow so we're going to stay up late, watch Despicable Me and eat cheesecake!

School Days

Friday was the Valentine's Day party at Holli's school. Dylan and I went and joined in the celebration.

Dylan enjoying fruit salad the class made.

Holli checking out all of her Valentine's Day Loot!

The week before was the 100 day celebration. The kids were so excited to celebrate 100 days of school. Dylan and I joined the class for lunch... Tomato Soup and grilled cheese. Yummy!

Are you ready for some football?

Cookies that Dylan and I made for a Superbowl party this afternoon.

Great Snowdown Weekend

We had a great Snowdown weekend with our Best Friends, Matt and Joanie. The theme this year was Snowdown Bites so there were lots of monsters running around Durango. We never did find the Silver Bullet but were very close.

Drew and Matt with Uncle Charmer. So Scary!! Dylan wore his skeleton costume and this monster mask. Holli said his name was Uncle Charmer. We all got a kick out of that!

Joanie, Holli and Matt headed to the Parade with a candy bucket. I'm not sure if the kids got more candy on Halloween or at the Snowdown Parade.

One of the spooky monsters we ran into while waiting for the parade to start.

Three goofballs!

Holli and Harry at the Chapman Hill snow games.

Dylan and Harry having a little chat.

Holli with the trophy she won at the Cat Costume Contest. Her and Oliver were in the Owner / Cat Lookalike category. They were the only ones in that category so that helped us win! They both dressed up as vampires. Oliver was Cat Dracula. Didn't get any good photos of Oliver in his cape. He wasn't too happy about the whole thing.

Dylanism

Dylan - "Where is the Goose tape?"

Holli - "Do you mean Duct tape?"

Dylan - "Yeah, that's it. Where is the Duct tape?"

Snowdown is HERE

Snowdown Bites has officially started! Snowdown may just be the most exciting 5 days in Durango. Yesterday Holli and Dylan participated in a cookie decorating contest. They both got to decorate and eat a delicious cookie from Cocina Linda.

Right now it is -11 in Durango. YIKES! As soon as it warms up a bit Dylan and I are going to head out and search for the Silver Bullet.

Happy Snowdown!
